Education · Tutorials

Every coral entering your tank should be dipped. Coral dipping kills hitchhiking pests like flatworms, nudibranch eggs, acropora-eating flatworms (AEFW), and red bugs.\n\nPopular dips:\n- Bayer Insecticide (Advanced): 25 mL per gallon, 10 min soak\n- CoralRx Pro: Follow label dosing, 5-10 min soak\n- Revive Coral Cleaner: Gentle, good for soft corals\n- Melafix: For bacterial infections only\n\nDipping procedure:\n1. Mix dip solution in a clean container with tank water\n2. Place coral in dip solution\n3. Gently shake coral or use a turkey baster to dislodge pests\n4. Watch for falling pests (flatworms, spiders, snails)\n5. Rinse coral in clean saltwater after dip\n6. Place in quarantine tank if possible (2-4 weeks ideal)\n\nNever dip: Anemones, urchins, or shrimp—they are highly sensitive to dip chemicals.
